Hi there, the above article is on fac status again. I've really tried to change all the things you commented on. Please can you hgelp with the inline citations as I'm new to this and I can't seem to get that correct? Please can you look it over again? Thanks so much for your help.Black Stripe01:44, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Slof, thanks for changing the Christopher Walken page. I had wanted to do this for a while but simply haven't had the time. I initially started the notable performances list but changed my mind after Garion directed me to the excellent Dianne Keaton page. The page is now looking much better and I think is ready for the addition of some more unusual stuff from Walken's career. --Panopticon06:27, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I did, however, try to look it up. It does not appear in my print edition of Merriam-Webster, and through that dictionary company turns out to be only available at the subscription-only
Merriam-WebsterUnabridged.com. I think we can agree that such an obscure word may not be the clearest form of expression. -- Tenebrae19:16, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
I am glad you included a reference when you reinserted the information; however, your claim that my change is without cause wrong. Please read up on unattributed material, "The burden of evidence lies with the editor who has made the edit in question, and any unsourced material may be removed by any editor." --Trödel15:22, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We are most likely going to have to reference that Census estimate like the Seattle, Boston, etc., articles do. Slof05:31, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I added all 3 refs in the infobox. The had a problem with the Urban estimate ref. The target page is generated dynamically, so I couldn't get a static url with the stated statistic. Hope that's OK. Postoak07:14, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for uploading Image:MSControls.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. The image was added to the MapleStory article to add clarification to a section since some people asked for it. However, the article has since been revamped and the image is no longer needed. I have no objections to its deletion. Slof06:59, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please have a go at formating the images in a way that keeps them readable? I agree with you that the column format leaves lots to be desired. After several attempts it was the only layout that remotely did what I tried to do, namely make the data accessible. Frank van Mierlo01:58, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Right now, it's simply sufficient. The whole of the pictures take up more area than the text, which usually is the other way around for most featured articles (although that's not what defines them); it would be in this article's best interest to garner more text. Slof03:31, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
File:Screenshot Jan 27 2007.jpgScreenshot, note white space in the middle of the article and the single line of text running to the right. I think you hit the core of the problem. I believe Beagle had another crack at it but the layout is still less than desirable, with the text bouncing between the graphics and the edge of the screen and white spaces in the middle of the article (depending on the screen resolution). This article is about digesting a lot of numbers and often that is best done with clear graphics. At this point we have made the graphics smaller which is a painful compromise. Could you live with the column format at this point? Frank van Mierlo13:57, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Frankly, no. It goes against the MOS standards. Plus, it leaves a lot of white space on my computer's resolution. Slof23:38, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, I'd like to thank you for all your help on the article. I've taken ALL you've said on the discussion page very seriously and have changed eveything you pointed out over the period of months. Please check it out, it's like a new article! Is this OK for a FAC? Would you support it? Yours very sincerely, Black Stripe11:41, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is fairly decent as is right now. I wish that there were more information added to the "taxonomy" section and that the second paragraph of "distribution and habitat" be elucidated, particularly in the "regionally extinct?" stature of Benin and Togo. Otherwise, nice work on its amelioration. Slof03:34, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Non-free use disputed for Image:Cup of Gold (book).gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Cup of Gold (book).gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.
I reverted your addition of two external links to the Miami, Florida page. "Yellow Pages"-type listings are not appropriate external links. Thank you for the addition about the injunction against the HUD takeover, and especially for formatting the citation correctly. Horologiumt-c14:08, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the note, but it wasn't an addition; I simply moved it from the "see also" section into the external links. Personally, I too did not think it was appropriate, but I also didn't think its removal was at my discretion.Slof15:31, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the accusation, then. I was a bit perplexed about the edit; usually editors who add drivel like that don't have a history of useful edits (as you do), and it seemed out of place with the concurrent useful additions to the article. A quick look at the edit summary noted that they first appeared in the external link after your edit, but a more careful review shows that you pulled them out of the clearly inappropriate section. Sorry for the squawk. Horologiumt-c16:29, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Cup of Gold (book).gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Cup of Gold (book).gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
